This town was originally a port for the ancient Elymian cities of Erice and Segesta.

The great Castle built by the Arabs stands in the port.
In the town centre is the Chiesa Madre, built in the sixteenth century, inside which there is a seventeenth century Majolica ceramic statue of the Madonna.
Today, Castellammare is a tourist attraction that has much to offer its visitors in terms of nature.
